MCR Completes Renovation of a Hilton Hotel in Coastal Virginia

Hilton Garden Inn Coliseum Central Completes ‘Project Grow’ Public Space and Guestroom Refresh

December 03, 2015

MCR Development LLC (“MCR”), the seventh largest hotel owner-operator in the United States, today announced it has completed a renovation of the 149-room Hilton Garden Inn Coliseum Central located in Hampton, Virginia. Conveniently situated in the Hampton Roads metropolitan area, the hotel is surrounded by a variety of corporate demand generators including government/military, healthcare, industrial and educational institutions. The area is also rich with leisure demand drivers such as Boo Williams Sportsplex, the largest sportsplex between Washington D.C. and North Carolina, which hosts a series of high school sporting event weekend tournaments year round.

The renovation involved updating the hotel’s guestrooms and common areas in Hilton Garden Inn’s ‘Project Grow’ design to create a more welcoming, comfortable and modern staying experience. All guestrooms received new furniture and design décor for added comfort and satisfaction, while the lobby was transformed into an open, colorful and inviting gathering space for guests to socialize and entertain. The ‘Project Grow’ refresh also included upgrading the meeting rooms to become more technologically advanced, redesigning the event space and updating the pool and fitness center.

The Hilton Garden Inn Coliseum Central is conveniently located off Interstate 64, which is the only interstate highway that connects the four largest cities in Virginia. The hotel is in proximity to NASA’s Langley Research Center and the headquarters of Riverside Health System, which operates seven hospitals in the area. In addition to government and healthcare institutions, the hotel is just a few miles from the offices of Alcoa and the headquarters of Huntington Ingalls, a Fortune 500 shipbuilding company and the largest employer in the region with 24,000 employees. Hampton University, a NCAA Division I university with over 4,000 students and roughly 1,000 employees is also nearby, as is the Hampton Roads Convention Center and the Hampton Coliseum, a sporting and concert venue which seats 14,000 fans.
